Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is.
This book is absolutely awesome. Armentrout developed an amazing character in Katy. She's this spunky and (extremely) sassy teenager who holds nothing back when it comes to the leading male, Daemon, (who happens to be my new favorite male character). Daemon is mouthy and bossy and full of himself and apparently, drop dead gorgeous. The rapport between these two main characters is like watching someone throw gasoline on a fire - you know it will be cool to look at and fun to be around but it's so hot that you don't want to go near it.
If this ever turns into a movie ... please, for the love of everything soft and fluffy, cast Channing Tatum as Daemon. You and I both know that it's the right thing to do.
Anyhow. Armentrout pulls you in from the very first page. Her style of writing is so .... laid back (?!?) ... I can't think of another word for it ... you just feel like it's happening around you. She doesn't add any extra descriptions that you don't really need. Everything she writes is pertinent to the story and can't be cut out ... no filler (yay)!!
Great book ... I recommend it to anyone who wants a fun summer read. This is definite "by-the-pool" reading. I can't wait to read it again.
Pick it up. Read it. You won't be disappointed!!

I haf to get dressed in 4 hours for worship practice that church. And i know i need to go to bed but its so hard i wanna read more! #mynewfavoritebook! Oh just thought id ask how many chapters are in the book?? Thank You :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad that you love it so far! And you are too sweet! Sometimes you find someone who connects with the same things that you do, but it's not very often and I'm glad that I was able to help you.
ReplyDeleteAnd the answer is yes ... I've toyed with writing a book. I have a story line that I've fiddled with lately. Who knows if it will ever come to light but your kind words give me a nudge in the direction of that dream.
Thanks for following my blog, Courtney ... I hope I don't disappoint in the future! Take care and finish that book! :)
There are 30 chapters, you're about halfway through! I hope you didn't fall asleep at church ... or if you did ... I hope that no one noticed! I had the one-more-chapter syndrome with Obsidian also. FYI, that OMC syndrome gets worse with the next two books.
ReplyDeleteBut after you're caught up with the Lux series, if you haven't read Divergent or The Selection, I really recommend those also!
Happy Reading!
I have read Divergent and Insurgent. Waiting on Aliegant :) Ive heard of The Selection but im not sure if i would like it And how sad!! Im already hafe way through it :( i want it to last forever.. And nope i havnt fallen asleep. I usally take a nap after church but we both know what we do when we have a good book and free time :)
